Richardson spans two counties: about two-thirds of the city is in Dallas County and the northern third is in Collin County. That split also divides schools, with Richardson ISD serving the Dallas County side and Plano ISD the Collin County side. The 2020 Census counted 119,469 residents. Known as the Telecom Corridor, Richardson is also home to the University of Texas at Dallas, and the number of residents in campus housing rose from 387 in 2010 to 6,313 in 2020. Housing ranges from mid-century neighborhoods like Richardson Heights and Canyon Creek to newer apartments and offices around CityLine and Galatyn Park. Two roads handle most long-distance departures: U.S. 75 (Central Expressway) runs north–south through the city, and the President George Bush Turnpike runs along the northern border with direct connections to DFW Airport, I-35E, I-30 and I-20. Green Van Lines, founded in 2007 as the first eco-friendly moving company in the US, handles out-of-state moves from DFW. Our Farmers Branch base is about 12 miles west of Richardson.

Richardson questions

Which school district serves my Richardson address?

It depends on the county. Richardson ISD serves the Dallas County part of the city, roughly the southern two-thirds, and Plano ISD serves the Collin County part to the north. Confirm your district before requesting school records for your new state.

Which highway will my truck take out of Richardson?

Usually U.S. 75 (Central Expressway), which runs north–south through the city, or the President George Bush Turnpike along the northern border. The turnpike connects to I-35E, I-30, I-20 and DFW Airport, so it often provides the shortest link to an interstate heading out of Texas.

Do you move students and staff near UT Dallas?

Yes. UT Dallas's main campus is at 800 West Campbell Road, and Richardson's campus-housing population grew from 387 in 2010 to 6,313 in 2020. Apartment and student-housing moves usually depend on loading-dock or elevator access, so we confirm the building's rules before scheduling.
