North Richland Hills is a Tarrant County suburb in the Mid-Cities area between Fort Worth and DFW Airport, and it counted 69,917 residents in the 2020 Census. The city began in 1952, when Clarence Jones subdivided his 268-acre dairy farm along Cummings Drive into homes restricted to brick and masonry construction, and it incorporated in 1953. The former community of Smithfield was annexed by 1960, and today both Smithfield and Iron Horse have TEXRail stations. The old North Hills Mall site now holds City Hall. Interstate 820 runs through the south part of the city, and Davis Boulevard (FM 1938), Precinct Line Road (FM 3029), SH 26, Mid Cities Boulevard and North Tarrant Parkway carry most local traffic, so a moving truck can reach the interstate system without crossing Dallas. Birdville ISD serves most of the city, including Richland and Birdville high schools, while Keller ISD covers the northernmost part. Green Van Lines has handled long-distance moves out of DFW since 2007, when it opened as the first eco-friendly moving company in the US. North Richland Hills is roughly 25 miles west of our Farmers Branch base.
